ephemeral
Henry Hartner

feed me spoonfuls of euphoria
like honey–
the sun is slipping through the curtains
but i cannot get out of bed

set the lilacs in the vase
just right–
if i’m to die, i want to look at something pretty
while i do it

let me hold you in my blistered palms
like water–

let only me watch you with my aching eyes
just me–

please.
i cannot let you let me go.
