Electricity
Lori D'Angelo
I drink my Coke from a bottle—
half cold, like the air outside.
I expect you to tell me—any
day now—that you don’t care.
But, instead, you listen to
stories about his illness, my uncertainty.
You help me understand what
it means for someone to give a shit.
I wear a blue sweater
two days in a row.
Not the same sweater, but still,
what does it say about me
that I own so many clothes
that are the same color?
